# Cursor

> Set up Cursor to build with Swish using skills and MCP

Give Cursor context about the Swish SDK, API, and React SDK so it can help you build wishlist and saved items features.

## Install the Swish skill

The Swish skill gives Cursor detailed knowledge about Swish's APIs, hooks, configuration options, common patterns, and gotchas.

In the integrated terminal, run:

```bash theme={null}
npx skills add https://swish.app/docs
```

This installs a skill file that Cursor uses as context when answering questions about Swish.

## Add the docs MCP server

The MCP server lets Cursor search the Swish documentation for up-to-date reference material while generating responses.

**1. Open MCP settings**

Press <kbd>Command</kbd> + <kbd>Shift</kbd> + <kbd>P</kbd> and search for **Open MCP settings**. Select **Add custom MCP** to open `mcp.json`.

**2. Add the Swish docs server**

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "swish-docs": {
      "url": "https://swish.app/docs/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

**3. Verify the connection**

The Swish Docs server should appear in **Settings > MCP** with a green indicator.

> [!TIP]
>
> You can also add the MCP server from any page in these docs - open the
> contextual menu at the top of the page and select **Connect to Cursor**.

## What you get

| Source | What it provides |
| - | - |
| **Skill** | API reference tables, decision guidance (SDK vs API, intents vs direct calls), workflows, common gotchas, verification checklists |
| **MCP** | Live search across all Swish documentation - SDK reference, REST API endpoints, React hooks, integration guides |

The skill provides instructions on how to build with Swish effectively. The MCP server provides access to the latest documentation content. Together they give Cursor the context it needs to generate accurate code.
