# Claude

> Set up Claude to build with Swish using skills and MCP

Give Claude context about the Swish SDK, API, and React SDK so it can help you build wishlist and saved items features.

## Claude Code

### Install the Swish skill

The Swish skill gives Claude Code detailed knowledge about Swish's APIs, hooks, configuration options, common patterns, and gotchas.

In your project directory, run:

```bash theme={null}
npx skills add https://swish.app/docs
```

### Add the docs MCP server

The MCP server lets Claude Code search the Swish documentation for up-to-date reference material.

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http swish-docs https://swish.app/docs/mcp
```

Verify the connection:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp list
```

## Claude Desktop

### Add the docs MCP server

**1. Open connector settings**

Navigate to **Settings > Connectors** or go to [claude.ai/settings/connectors](https://claude.ai/settings/connectors).

**2. Add the Swish docs server**

Click **Add custom connector** and enter:

* **Name**: `Swish Docs`
* **URL**: `https://swish.app/docs/mcp`

**3. Use the MCP server in chat**

Select the attachments button (the plus icon), then select the **Swish Docs** connector. Claude can now search Swish documentation while responding.

> [!TIP]
>
> You can also add the MCP server from any page in these docs - open the
> contextual menu at the top of the page and copy the MCP server URL.

## What you get

| Source | What it provides |
| - | - |
| **Skill** | API reference tables, decision guidance (SDK vs API, intents vs direct calls), workflows, common gotchas, verification checklists |
| **MCP** | Live search across all Swish documentation - SDK reference, REST API endpoints, React hooks, integration guides |

The skill provides instructions on how to build with Swish effectively. The MCP server provides access to the latest documentation content. Together they give Claude the context it needs to generate accurate code.
